A group of gangsters hold a beautiful woman and her handicapped mother-in-law prisoners in their own hotel. From out of nowhere, a hurricane traps everyone and the only way to survive is to outsmart or out kill the other.
Two young people from opposite sides of the social and racial divide meet in a stalled, blacked out lift. Their budding romance is viewed with disapproval by both families: she is white blue-collar, he is black upwardly-mobile.
